In this episode:

Manuel is joined by David Gil as they go over the Coronavirus global and US numbers.  While Manuel thinks most people and news outlets are overreacting and creating panic, David strongly opposes his opinion and thinks that the US and the world are not reacting or implementing solutions fast enough.  And oh, yeah, there’s a lot of arguing in this episode.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show… and please, let us know your thoughts too.  It’s not about being right, it’s about getting it right.

So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is…fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.”  Frankly D. Roosevelt

Total Recovered Cases: 33,252
Around 40% Recovered Cases
Total Deaths: 2,810

In China:
78.5K cases

Death Rate by Age in China: The study shows that older adults have been hit hardest by COVID-19.

  • Among those ages 80 and older, the death rate was 14.8%,
  • 8.0% for those ages 70 to 79;
  • 3.6% for those ages 60 to 69;
  • 1.3% for those ages 50 to 59;
  • 0.4% for those ages 40 to 49, and
  • 0.2% for those ages 10 to 39.
  • No deaths have been reported among children from birth to age 9.

The study also identifies which existing illnesses put patients at risk. It puts cardiovascular disease at number one, followed by diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and hypertension.
Other scientists have estimated there could be 10 times as many people infected as are ending up in the official statistics. That means the overall death rate is likely to be lower than the one reported by most studies.
