Going to college is a truly memorable and enriching experience—even years after you attended classes and walked the halls and grounds of your Alma Mater, you continue to demonstrate abilities, make use of knowledge, and draw from lessons you learned from the people you met and the activities you took part in at university.

Many would love a chance to pay a visit to their school and reconnect with old friends and acquaintances, explore the place to check out new developments and changes, and share the excitement and love for university life with their children (the next generation of students). And for people from the University of California in Berkeley, there’s no better event to accomplish all these than at the Reunion and Parents Weekend at Homecoming.

An event to remember

Reunion and Parents Weekend at Homecoming is UC Berkeley’s largest annual gathering that brings together thousands of alumni, students and parents for three days at the campus. This year, the event will take place from October 2-4 and all attendees can anticipate all kinds of festivities that they are sure to enjoy. Here are some of the fun activities you can look forward to:

Get to know the most widely recognized symbol of the Berkeley campus at the “Berkeley’s Ivory Tower: The Campanile at 100” exhibition. Also known as Sather Tower, the Campanile’s centennial will be celebrated in this exhibition through manuscript and pictorial collections from The Bancroft Library as well as holdings from the University Archives.

The 90-minute Campus Walking Tour led by knowledgeable student ambassadors will give guests a preview of campus architecture, university life and history.

Dig into rows upon rows of great books and delve into wonderful exhibits at the Doe and Moffitt Libraries and Gardner Stacks Open House.

Stroll through the Garden of Old Roses overlooking the bay and explore diverse plant habitats from six continents, view collections of carnivorous plants and orchids, and experience so much more from the UC Botanical Garden’s plant tours.

Discover a colorful marketplace showcasing wonderful produce domesticated by ancient farmers of the Americas—think chocolate, beans, corn, quinoa, potatoes and tomatoes. There are hands-on activities perfect for all ages.

Somewhere to stay

Since there’s so much to do throughout the three fun-filled days, you’ll need to find excellent accommodation during your Cal Homecoming. Hotels, university officials say, can be conveniently found by checking out Visit Berkeley’s official website and selecting the right lodgings to suit your needs.

When you come round to the University of California, Berkeley, hotels, inns and motels will be ready to cater to parents and alums, families, and all other special events celebrants—not only do these lodging options offer great styles, selections and value, but they’ll be putting guests right by the bay so that they can get the true Berkeley experience.
